    Plaquenil and sulfasalazine combination

Friends and family help but they really just dont get it! Anyways- been diagnosed and have been taking plaquenil since around October- it was helping but my wrists and fingers were still in so much pain that I couldn't even get dressed in the mornings! So I was taking dose packs to help w the pain and my rheumatology finally put me on prednisone- TERRIBLE. I couldnt sleep at night, had awful night sweats, weight gain...it.

Are there special precautions those living with rheumatoid arthritis RA should take around the coronavirus COVID-19, given a compromised immune system? Does Plaquenil Interact with other Medications? Severe Interactions. These medications are not usually taken together. Consult your healthcare professional e.g. doctor or pharmacist for more in. For patients with a disease duration less than 6 months, clinical practice guidelines recommend use of combination DMARDs such as sulfasalazine plus hydroxychloroquine for those with moderate disease activity and poor prognostic features and is an option for those with high disease activity and poor prognostic features.

So my doctor wanted to put me on methotrexate and I read sooo many terrible things about it that I begged her to let me try something else first before going to the extreme w the methotrexate. Being a 23 yr old female who is getting married in July- weight gain feels like the worst thing that could happen to you.

  3. If the plaquenil is helping and they say you need it, I'd take it - the side effects will go away. I've not had experience with sulfasalazine - but from what I've read, the side effects of that med are about the same as those of plaquenil. BTW - sulfasalazine is an anti-inflammatory.

Answer: When billing Plaquenil examinations, or any other high risk medication exams, it is appropriate to bill the systemic disease or any ocular manifestations as the primary diagnosis since many payers may not reimburse for the high-risk medication diagnosis as a stand-alone diagnosis. Plaquenil therapy and eye exams. - Eye Care - MedHelp I was told from the start by my rheumatologist I would have to have eye exams including visual field exams every six months due to the plaquenil therapy. My first two exams did include these tests. But my next six month appointment is coming up, and they told me I didn't need the visual field test this time so the appointment would be shorter.
