Simple motor tics may include movements such as eye -blinking, nose-twitching, head-jerking, or shoulder -shrugging. Complex motor tics consist of a series of movements performed in the same order. For instance a person might reach out and touch something repeatedly or kick out with one leg and then the other. Hey Carol. My lupus symptoms began with CNS issues including the jerking, but with plaquenil etc, the jerking subsided for many months. Lately every time I flare I become a jerk. I especially notice it when my body is at rest. Some part muscle/tendon must be in motion constantly and it's jerking, not twitching. The Risk of Retinal Toxicity with Plaquenil. I also experienced annoying, chronic eye twitching many years ago when placed on Effexor XR for about one year. As soon as I stopped the Effexor XR, the eye twitching resolved. Along with the current problem of the right eye twitch while on the Plaquenil, I have been experiencing one vaginal infection after the next, after the next.
