    Pain after stopping plaquenil

I've been on plaquenil for 6 months for suspected Sjogren's syndrome (I don't have antibodies for Sjorgren's or Lupus but I do have Hashimoto's and have all the symptoms for Sjorgren's so the rheumatologist suggested a trial of plaquenil). Basically I've been on the drug since January and saw the rheumatologist on Wednesday to see how things are going.

Has anyone had any side effects from STOPPING plaquenil? Also - does anyone have any great ways to prevent virus and illness, when weak? I seem to get cold after cold after cold this year. I had a diagnosis of seronegative RA in 2017. After two years of plaquenil, my disease is in remission and we have me reduced now to only 100mg per day. I have been on 400 mg daily of Plaquenil, last week my doctor took me off of it ue to increase in the pain I had been having in lower back and unbelievable pain in my left leg and especially the extreme pain in the heel of my left foot. It was becoming painful to walk. After 5 days of stopping pain was 80% better. Though Plaquenil is generally regarded as safe during pregnancy, it is recommended that effective birth control is used throughout the course of Plaquenil treatment and for up to six months after treatment is stopped.

I do think it's helped with fatigue and muscle pain but it's hard for me to compare to Xmas as when the improvement is so gradual I think it's really hard to notice on a gradual basis. I *think* I'm improving but it's been a gradual process and I said to him that it's quite hard to tell how much of an improvement I'm feeling.

I started taking Plaquenil 4 weeks ago for non specific autoimmune disease as indicated by ANA. Symptoms were low grade temperature off and on for a year, joint pain and fatigue. I have already felt some relief. Some nauseau at first but less problem with fever and joint pain. But, now I have started having stomach cramps and diarrhea. I understand these may go away. Is there anything I can. Overall Plaquenil did take away the muscle and joint pain. It worked wonders for that. For that reason I am satisfied with plaquenil for what I took it for. Took about 5-6 months to see full effect. Since reducing the dose from 400mg to 200mg 4 months ago I do feel some of this pain returning You win some, you lose some!
